New Zealanders have likely seen the benefits of the Consumer Guarantees Act and want similar protections against the increasing amount of fraud and cybercrime affecting everyday Kiwis.
According to Horizon Research, 27% of New Zealand adults have experienced fraud or bank theft in the last 12 months.
- 12% have had someone use a bank card, credit card, cheque or other document, without permission, to commit fraud and/or steal from them
- 9% have experienced fraud, or theft involving a bank account
- 6% have been a victim of cybercrime, with an internet device accessed without permission.
